Rules in force and where to confirm them

This page uses the NEET (UG) 2026 upload rules from the National Testing Agency's Information Bulletin. The 2027 bulletin was not out on 2 October 2026, so treat these as the most recent published rules until NTA releases new ones. Keep the NEET (UG) website and the NEET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin open while you prepare your files, and switch to the newer notice as soon as it appears. Where it differs from this page, the notice wins.

Your NEET document list, sorted into groups

NEET asks for more files than most entrance tests, and several are only for certain candidates. Sorting them makes the job feel smaller.

Images (JPG or JPEG)

  • Photograph taken after 1 January 2026: 10 KB to 200 KB.
  • Signature: 10 KB to 100 KB.
  • Left and right hand fingers and thumb impressions: 50 KB to 200 KB.
  • Identity proof, only if you are not verifying through Aadhaar or DigiLocker: 50 KB to 200 KB.

PDFs for every applicant

  • Class 10 passing certificate, with your date of birth on it.
  • Class 10 marksheet, as its own file.
  • Address proof: one PDF covering both present and permanent address.

PDFs for some applicants only

  • CGPA conversion certificate, if your Class 10 result is in CGPA or grades.
  • Category certificate for SC, ST, OBC-NCL or EWS.
  • PwD, PwBD or UDID certificate.
  • NRI, OCI or foreign national certificate, if your nationality is not Indian.

Every PDF on this list shares the same range: 50 KB to 300 KB.

The photograph and the Aadhaar match

Your photo must be taken after 1 January 2026. It may be colour or black and white, but the background must be white. Your face should cover 80% of the image, with no mask and your ears visible. Polaroid and computer-generated photos are not accepted, and spectacles should appear only if you wear them regularly.

A live photo is also captured during the form and matched with Aadhaar. In practice that means the uploaded photo, the live photo and your Aadhaar record should all look like you on an ordinary day. As general advice, switch off beauty modes and filters on your phone camera, and skip editing apps that smooth skin or reshape faces.

To prepare the file, crop tightly with Image Crop so your face fills the frame, then bring it into range with Fit Image to KB.

Fingers, thumbs and the signature

The finger and thumb impressions image catches many applicants out, simply because few other forms ask for it. If the bulletin shows a layout for the impressions, copy it exactly. Beyond that, some general advice: use a dark ink pad, press evenly without rolling, and let the ink dry before you photograph the sheet. Shoot it flat, from directly above, in daylight. The ridges should still be visible when you zoom in on the saved JPG.

The signature must be clearly legible, and it cannot be corrected after submission. Sign on plain white paper, crop close and keep the file between 10 KB and 100 KB. Take your time over it, because this is the one image you cannot fix later.

When the bulletin gives two numbers

For two items the 2026 bulletin is not consistent. The thumb impressions are given as 10 to 200 KB in one place and 50 to 300 KB in another. The identity proof also appears as 10 to 200 KB in one item and 50 to 300 KB in another. The safe choice is a file between 50 KB and 200 KB, because it satisfies both versions. If your image lands under 50 KB, Meet Minimum Size can lift it without changing how it looks.

Turning paper into PDFs that pass

Scan or photograph each certificate separately, in good light, with every edge in view. Scan to PDF turns phone photos into a clean PDF. For address proof, the rule asks for a single PDF, so if your present and permanent addresses sit on different documents, join them with Merge PDF. Then check the size. Compress PDF brings a heavy scan under 300 KB, and Meet Minimum Size lifts a light one above 50 KB. Keep the passing certificate and the marksheet as separate files even if they came on one sheet of paper.

Before you upload, run the whole set through Portal Preflight for NEET (UG). It flags wrong formats and files outside their KB ranges. Like every DocNimble tool, it works inside your browser, so your certificates and photo are never uploaded to DocNimble.

Frequently asked questions

My Class 10 marks are in CGPA. What extra do I upload?

Under the 2026 rules, candidates whose Class 10 result is shown as CGPA or grades also upload a CGPA conversion certificate. It is a PDF, like the other certificates, and should sit between 50 KB and 300 KB. It is separate from your passing certificate and your marksheet, which go up as two different files. If your result is in plain marks, this item does not apply.

Can I use an old photo from my school ID card?

Not under the 2026 rules. The photograph must have been taken after 1 January 2026, on a white background, with your face covering 80% of the image. A school ID picture is usually older and often has a coloured background. Take a fresh picture in daylight, crop it so your face fills the frame, and save the JPG between 10 KB and 200 KB.

My fingerprint image is 300 KB. Is that fine?

It is safer to bring it down. The bulletin lists this image as 10 to 200 KB in one place and 50 to 300 KB in another, and only a file between 50 KB and 200 KB meets both. Use the Fit Image to KB tool with that range, then zoom in on the result to make sure the ridges of each print are still clear.

Is a black and white photo allowed for NEET?

Yes. According to the 2026 bulletin the photograph may be colour or black and white. What does not change is the white background, the face covering 80% of the frame, no mask and visible ears. Because a live photo is also matched with Aadhaar, a clear, natural image without filters is a better choice than a heavily edited one.

I noticed a problem with my signature after submitting. Can I replace it?

The 2026 bulletin says the signature cannot be corrected after submission. That is why it pays to check it before you submit. Sign on plain white paper, make sure every letter is clearly legible, crop it close and keep the JPG between 10 KB and 100 KB. Look at the preview on the form one more time before you confirm.
