Open Portal PreflightRailway Recruitment Boards · NTPC CEN 06/2025 (Graduate) and 07/2025 (Under Graduate); no newer NTPC notice by 2 Oct 2026
The Railway Recruitment Boards last advertised NTPC posts under two notices: CEN 06/2025 for Graduate posts and CEN 07/2025 for Under Graduate posts. No newer NTPC notice had appeared by 2 Oct 2026, so the upload rules on this page come from para 14.5 of those notices. They apply to both levels.
Applications go through the RRB apply portal. The notices themselves are listed on the regional RRB websites, such as RRB Chandigarh, and the PDF opens after you visit the site. When a fresh NTPC notice is released, read its document-upload section before trusting any figure here, because the KB ranges or the photo process may be different.
Railway applicants do not upload a photograph file. The photo is captured live through a webcam or a phone camera. According to the notice, you should wear dark clothes and no cap, mask or glasses. Dark clothing helps your outline stand out from a pale background, so a white shirt against a white wall is the outfit to avoid.
Some general advice for a clean capture:
The signature is the only image you prepare yourself. RRB asks for your running signature, the joined-up way you normally sign, not your name written in block or capital letters. Use black ink on white paper. The scan should be at 100 DPI or more and at least 140 x 60 pixels, and the signature should fit a box of 35 mm x 20 mm. That box is wider than it is tall, so leave little space above and below the ink when you crop.
Use the signature you already put on bank forms and college papers. A signature invented just for the form is hard to repeat exactly when you need it again.
RRB's signature window is narrow: the JPG or JPEG file must be at least 30 KB and at most 49 KB. Note the upper limit is 49 KB, not a round number, so even a file slightly above 49 KB will be turned away.
Two problems turn up again and again. A raw phone photo is far heavier than 49 KB. A clean, tightly cropped signature on white paper is the opposite: it can easily come out below 30 KB. A simple order of work handles both:
Each of these tools works in your browser. The file is handled on your device and is not uploaded to DocNimble at any point.
The only other file in the table above is for SC/ST candidates who request the free sleeper-class travel pass. They upload their SC/ST certificate as a PDF under 400 KB. It must be legible and valid on the closing date of the notice. If your certificate may not meet that, sort it out with the issuing office before you apply rather than after.
For a paper certificate, Scan to PDF turns phone photos into a single PDF with straightened pages. If a colour scan comes out heavier than 400 KB, Compress PDF brings it down. Zoom in afterwards and read the certificate number and the issuing officer's details; if you cannot read them, neither can the person checking your form.

Compress PDF · Fit image to KBNot under CEN 06/2025 and 07/2025. The photo is captured live through a webcam or phone while you apply, so there is no photo file to resize. Wear dark clothes, and remove any cap, mask or glasses. Sitting in steady front light against a plain, light wall gives the camera the best chance of a sharp picture.
It is your everyday signature, written in one flowing, joined-up style. RRB does not accept a signature made of block or capital letters. Sign with black ink on white paper, the same way you sign bank forms or your college documents. Practise it a few times first so the version you scan is smooth and confident.
This is common with clean scans, since a white page with thin ink compresses very well. First check you have not cropped it so tightly that the image is under 140 x 60 pixels. If the size is fine, Meet Minimum Size can raise the file into the 30 to 49 KB window without altering how your signature looks.
No. Under the current NTPC notices, it is needed only by SC/ST candidates who ask for the free sleeper-class travel pass. If you are not requesting the pass, you do not upload it. If you are, the certificate must be a legible PDF under 400 KB and valid on the closing date.
RRB's wording is about a scan at 100 DPI or more and an image of at least 140 x 60 pixels. A modern phone photo, held flat above the paper in daylight, normally has far more pixels than that. What matters afterwards is cropping cleanly, saving as JPG and landing between 30 and 49 KB.
DocNimble reports the source and verification date but does not guarantee acceptance. The issuing authority's current portal and notification always control.
